Adaptive measures checklist

  1. Submit your request forms for an adapted exam to the Access Service as soon as you know your exam dates. Avoid waiting until the last minute – it’s easy to forget deadlines.

  2. Improve your learning strategies by meeting with your specialist.

  3. Remind professors that you are writing your exams at Access Service. This is to ensure professors will communicate any last minute changes to the exam and answer any questions that you may have.

  4. Set reasonable goals for yourself. For every hour spent in class, set aside two to three hours of study time. This may mean more time for someone with a disability depending on the type and degree of the disability.

  5. Maintain contact with the professor and discuss how his or her adaptive measures are helping you or share suggestions for improvement. If you need time extensions for an assignment, contact the professor as early as possible.

  6. Take advantage of appropriate student services and workshops offered on campus.
