Career Services for Employers

Frequently Asked Questions

  1. How can I connect with students on campus?
  2. The most effective way to connect with students on campus is to work with our Employment Team at Career Services. We can speak with you by phone or in person to set up a strategy for promoting your company and its recruitment opportunities. We will discuss with you the best format for promoting your organization and opportunities to students.

    To find out more about partnering with Career Services, please contact David Rodas-Wright at 613-562-5800 x4706 (david.rw@uOttawa.ca).

    To sign up for a specific career event, please contact Emilie Noël at 613-562-5800 x4378 (enoel@uOttawa.ca).

  3. Can I advertise my company in the student newspaper? My job openings?
  4. Employers are welcome to advertise on campus. However, job postings should be directed through our Employment Team. Career Services can post most job openings, at no cost, through our partner workopolisCampus.

    Just send your job description(s) to job@uOttawa.ca in English, French, or both. (Please note that we cannot provide translation services.)

    The student newspapers on campus are in the English language (The Fulcrum) and the French language (La Rotonde). Please contact their advertising departments directly.

  5. I am an employer committed to ongoing student development. How can I contribute more on campus?
  6. We would be delighted to involve your organization in conducting workshops and presentations on a range of recruitment related subjects. Unlike information sessions, which can be used to promote your organization specifically, our workshops and presentations are used to educate students on various topics, for example, effective interviewing, networking skills and resume writing. These educational vehicles can also go a long way toward helping your company build sustained goodwill with our students.

    For more information, please contact David Rodas-Wright at 613-562-5800 x4706 (david.rw@uOttawa.ca).

  7. Are there other services on campus that can help me with my recruitment needs?
  8. Career Services can also direct you to contacts within:    (a) the School of Management if you are looking to hire business graduates;
       (b) the Common Law and Civil Law programs if you are recruiting Articling students or Civil Law grads; and,
       (c) the Co-operative Education Program to explore co-op placements.

    Please contact David Rodas-Wright at 613-562-5800 ext. 4706 (1-877-UOTTAWA, ext. 4706) or email: david.rw@uOttawa.ca for more information.
