  1. What are the employment prospects for students studying in my field?
  2. Visit our section on What can I do with my studies?, which includes information on career prospects and potential employers in your field of study.

  3. Can Career Services give me advice on my resume and cover letter?
  4. Yes.

    You are welcome to make an appointment for an individual meeting or to come in to have your resume reviewed during our drop-in hours. Students are assisted on a first-come, first-served basis.

  5. How can I improve my interview skills?
  6. Please visit us to arrange a mock job interview, which may be of a general nature or tailored to a specific job, to receive constructive feedback on your performance. We recommend that you have a resume critique prior to your mock interview.

    Please book your appointment as soon as possible as our schedule fills up quickly.

  7. How do I meet with a career consultant?
  8. Please visit our office to make an appointment with a career counsellor at any time during our hours of operation.

  9. How can Career Services make my job search more effective?
  10. A visit to our office will allow us to determine your job search needs. Although Career Services is not a placement agency, our student mentors can show you useful tools and resources, and can give you tips on how to access the unadvertised or hidden job market.

  11. How do I find work on campus?
  12. There are different ways of finding a job on campus:
    - www.workopolisCampus.com – jobs on and off campus
    - Work-Study Program – jobs on campus
    - Networking: Ask around for what may be available, remember that 80% of jobs are not advertised
    - Look into other opportunities: some jobs on campus are posted on billboards at other departments or services.

  15. I am an International student who wants to learn more about working in Canada.
  16. Part-time jobs during your studies:

    - Work-Study Program
    - As of June 1st, 2006 the Department of Citizenship and Immigration Canada has launched an off-campus program for international students. For more information contact the International Office.

  17. How do I register for Career Fairs and Workshops?
  18. No registration is needed to participate in a Career Fair; however, we welcome your registration to participate in one of our “Networking with Employers” workshops.

    You can register for all workshops online. To register, please consult our calendar of events.

  19. Can I still use Career Services as an alumnus?
  20. Yes.
    Alumni may use Careers Services free of charge for up to two years after graduation.
