Our Services


Approximately 20% of first-year University of Ottawa students are First Generation. As a First Generation student, you may be unsure of what is needed to succeed at university, or you may not be able to count on the same type of familial support as your "traditional student" peers. This is why SASS, in collaboration with the university's faculties, has developed a number of personalized programs and services to help you succeed academically and to enrich your university experience as a First Generation student.


Aboriginal Resource Service

This Centre offers a variety of services addressing the specific needs of Aboriginal students in a culturally-sensitive and welcoming atmosphere.


Academic Writing Help Centre (AWHC)

Learn to properly structure your essays and assignments, to understand and correct your mistakes, and to avoid plagiarism.


Access Service

If you have a learning disability or any functional limitation (cognitive, psychological, psychiatric medical, physical or sensory), book an appointment with one of our Learning Specialists to develop and implement a learning plan to support the full actualization of your student potential.


Career Services

You will find a range of resources and services designed to ease your transition into the labour market.


Counselling and Coaching Service

Our counsellors and coaches guide you when you have to overcome personal challenges and help you bring your personal and professional objectives into focus to keep you at your best throughout your studies.


Office for the Prevention of Harassment and Discrimination

Safely discuss, report or resolve situations where you feel discrimination or harassment have taken place.
