Why be part of u101?

Find out why you should be part of u101! See what previous u101 students have to say about their u101 experience.

Joëlle Thériault

“U101 is a great way to learn all about what the university has to offer! Like at the President’s Brunch, you get to know a lot about the school and meet so many friendly people and supportive services all in one place. This really helped make me feel more comfortable and make moving away from friends and family easier.”

Catherine Lavoie

“The transition from high school to university life really scared me, but once I came to the University of Ottawa and attended the u101 activities and events my fears disappeared. By getting involved I met so many new friends and support staff that helped calmed my worries which made me confident that I could make it on my own.”

Michelle Li Calzi

“If I hadn’t attended the u101 events, I would have been so lost during my first few weeks of classes. Take advantage of these events! They are organized for you and they will definitely help you succeed throughout your university studies!”

Harrison Lowe

“As a new student, u101 is such an exciting and fun week that really made me feel like I was a part of the university. It really helps students get involved and integrate into university life, while having a great time.”

Are you arriving by plane?

The International Office, in partnership with the Student Academic Success Service (SASS), provides a free shuttle service. The shuttle, which runs between Thursday September 1st until Friday September 9th, brings you directly from Ottawa International Airport to the University of Ottawa main campus.

If you would like to catch the shuttle, please go to the shuttle 417 BUS LINE and show an official University of Ottawa document (course schedule, student card, acceptance letter, etc.).

Questions?

Your u101 mentors

When you arrive on campus, u101 mentors will gladly answer any questions you have and help you find your way around campus. They’re easy to spot under the bright yellow tents, wearing yellow t-shirts. If you have questions, ask them!

Are you an Aboriginal student?

The Aboriginal Resource Centre (ARC) works closely with all University faculties to develop initiatives that support and benefit Aboriginal students. The Centre is committed to helping First Nations, Inuit and Métis students by providing services that support your classroom, career and personal needs in a manner consistent with Aboriginal culture and values.
