Meet one-on-one with one of our writing advisors. Each 45-minute appointment is personalized to meet your needs.
The following are some of the skills you can develop by working with your writing advisor:
- Identifying and correcting your main grammatical mistakes;
- Understanding assignment instructions;
- Completing effective brainstorming sessions;
- Creating detailed and useful outlines;
- Transforming ideas into strong thesis statements;
- Constructing strong arguments;
- Effectively linking ideas together into essays that “flow”;
- Understanding mistakes from a corrected or marked assignment;
- Accurately referencing sources and effectively avoiding plagiarism.
Please note that writing advisors do not correct, edit, or proofread papers. The purpose of individual writing appointments is to help students become better writers, not to improve specific assignments. If you are willing to learn and are interested in developing your writing skills, then the AWHC is for you!
